Get Ready for Homeschool Week at the Aquarium

In partnership with Newport Aquarium, WAVE is offering extra learning experiences during Homeschool Week September 14-18.

Students will participate in a hands-on science lab, meet an animal ambassador and get to explore the aquarium!

Homeschool Learning Labs are standards-based, 2 hour programs designed to support your curriculum needs.

Learn together at WAVE as we discover aquatic animal adaptations and how these animals survive in their specific habitats through hands on activities including creating our own habitat for an aquatic animal. We will also get the chance to meet an animal ambassador!

This program is designed for Kindergarten-2nd grade and focuses on the standards K.LS.2, 1.LS.2, and 2.LS.2

Join us at WAVE as we learn how earth’s resources can effect our everyday life and what we can do to protect them through hands on activities including experimenting with creating a water filter. We will also get the chance to meet an animal ambassador!

This program is designed for 3rd-5th grade and focuses on the standards 3.ESS.2, 3.ESS.3, 4.ESS.1, 4.ESS.3, and 5.LS.1

Join us at WAVE as we learn about plant cells, photosynthesis and how plants pass on traits over different generations. Participants will get to look through a microscope and practice identifying parts of plant cells along with other hands on activities. We will also get the chance to meet an animal ambassador!

This program is designed for 6th-8th grade and focus on the standards 6.LS.3, 7.LS.1, and 8.LS.3

Join WAVE as we learn about how water impacts our life on earth! Participants will get to experiment with a water shed model and learn about the mitigation of natural disasters. We will also get the chance to meet an animal ambassador!

This program is designed for 9th-12th grade and focuses on the NGSS standards HS-ESS2-5 and HS-ESS3-1
