Gills Club

Building Confidence in STEM Skills

WAVE hosts Gills Club in partnership with the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. This STEM-based education initiative helps kids, especially girls, build confidence in STEM skills and form strong community connections. Members hear from community mentors and scientists actively working in STEM-related fields, share the knowledge they gain during the club, and facilitate shark and ocean conservation!

At each meeting, we discuss new topics and explore these concepts with the help of mentors. Club meetings are held on the third Saturday of each month. Each meeting runs from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is a year-long program and we encourage participation in every session for Gills to fully benefit from the experience. Any child 8-13 years old is welcome. Gills must be accompanied by an adult to attend.

Gills Club was funded by a grant from The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr. Foundation.
