Catch the WAVE Virtual 5k
Get a Running Start into Conservation Action
WAVE Foundation is excited to host our 1st Annual Catch the WAVE Virtual 5k! Whether you’re a seasoned runner or looking to try something new, this is a great new way to support conservation! Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email and a link to upload your completion form.
Event details:
January 14 – June 1 (Start of World Ocean Month)
Registration is $25 per participant
Registration includes gift of 1 Race Medal and WAVE Foundation sticker. Gifts will be mailed out twice during the event, or have the option to be picked up in person at our 15th Annual River Sweep on June 13.

We will mail out medals TWICE during the event.
Those who complete the race BEFORE April 22nd (Earth Day) can expect their medal to come the last week of April.
Those who complete the race AFTER April 22nd (Earth Day) can expect their medal to come the second week of June (World Ocean Month).

Suggested Route Instructions
PLEASE BE AWARE OF TRAFFIC AND FOLLOW ALL ROAD LAWS TO ENSURE YOUR SAFETY.
- Start at the end of Purple People Bridge off 3rd St. in Newport, KY.
- Run across the Purple People Bridge to Cincinnati and towards E. Pete Rose Way.
- Make a right turn (east) and small loop into Sawyer Point park.
- Follow the trail down towards the river, than eastward through the park.
- Cross underneath the 471 Bridge, still following the path east along the river into Bicentennial Commons.
- Take the trail behind Montgomery Inn restaurant, onto The Friends Bracelet Path, and through International Friendship Park.
- Turn around at the stoplight on Bains St., just before the Crystalline Tower. Run back along the river going west.
- Follow the trail backward, going through International Friendship Park, Bicentennial Commons, and Sawyer Park.
- Cross the Purple People Bridge into Newport, KY. from Cincinnati.
- At E. 3rd St., turn right (west) and run towards Newport on the Levee.
- Follow the roundabout path just past the parking garage entrance to end at WAVE Foundation Education Center. Take a selfie with our sign outside to post with your submission, and tag us with #CatchtheWAVE5k on socials!
